Sustainability data provider ESG Book head Daniel Klier will be joining carbon offsets provider South Pole as CEO in May. He will be responsible for further developing and institutionalising South Pole’s focus on aligning with risk, integrity and compliance standards across carbon markets. “South Pole has done a huge amount since 2006 to mobilise global climate action,” said Klier. “It pioneered the global carbon market, helped governments to develop flagship environmental and social projects, and enabled businesses to positively address their climate impact.” Klier previously held the role of Global Head of Sustainable Finance at HSBC and served as Chair of the Bank of England’s Climate Working Group. “South Pole must now prepare for the next stage of global climate action,” he continued. “That means enhancing our strategy, [and] ensuring we innovate and […] meaningfully advance our risks and compliance processes. Trust and transparency will be at the heart of our next chapter.”
